So many comics, and so little time. I only got a light reading in today. The train was packed this evening, and I didn’t want to risk some of my fav’s to the paper damaging dangers of a bumpy crowded train ride. Nonetheless, as the passenger load lightened up towards the end of my commute, I snuck in a few reads.
Rick Remender has silently become one of current favorite writers with ‘Deadly Class’ and ‘Low.’ Season One of ‘Ms. Marvel’, aka Kamala Khan, came to a heartbreaking end (sniff, sniff)–but, can’t wait for Season Two. The ‘Faster than Light’ mission continues in its second issue, and ‘Strange Fruit,’ is … well … strange.
Also, look for more posts later in the week, as I make it through my stack.
Here are the quotes:
“I can’t give you your hope. You have to grow your own and hold it through the seemingly endless darkness.”
“LIght brings light. And no matter what we face there is one thing we can control. Our outlook.”
“And when the weight of the past pulls us low we must find the strength to release it … and finally give ourselves permission to start over.”
– Rick Remender, Low No. 10
“It is not like I imagined it would be. The end of the world. It doesn’t feel like Nothing. Standing here with my best friend it feels like Everything. Everything and More.”
– G. Willow Wilson, Ms. Marvel No. 19
“You know I’m not just on this mission because of my dazzling charm. Observation skills are right at the top of my C.V.”
– Brian Haberlin, Faster Than Light No. 2
“You seem like a smart fella … for a Northerner … so let me lay it for you. You are a good man come at a a bad time.”
J.G. Jones and Mark Waid, Strange Fruit No. 2.
