Quotes For #NCBD 10/28/15 (Indies & Valiant)

Light on the Indies this week, so I threw Valiant into tonight’s read pile, who only had two books out this week–or one, depending on what is available where you buy your books.  I was able to read ’em all under two hours (even with the pounding rain).

I picked up Greg Rucka’s and Nicola Scott’s ‘Black Magick‘ about a wicked–in a good way–witch with a badge.

Wild’s End: The Enemy Within‘ by Abnett & Culbard is progressing slowly, and the suspense is killing me.  Hopefully by the next issue we will come face to face with those clicking evil aliens again.  At least I got one click this issue.

Stan Lee’s ‘Chakra The Invincible‘ is a nice easy feel good read, reminiscent of the Amazing Spiderman of yesteryear.

Arcadia‘ is like ‘The Matrix‘ written in Hell.

Also, my pocket took a bit of a hit this week. I had to cough up twenty bucks for issue four of Valiant’s ‘Legends of the Geomancer‘, written by Fred Van Lente, and with art by Juan Jose Ryp,  This one, however, is special, since the series was only released as an incentive to comic book retailers. This was Valiant’s intent:

“This is a little known story, the history of which is only known to a select few of the most important players in the Valiant Universe, and it’s telling will mirror its method of distribution. This will be a rare series that we hope fans will seek, much as they did decades ago for tales like the original ‘Harbinger’ #0.”

Also, Valiant doesn’t plan to collect ‘Legends of the Geomancer’ as a trade paperback.  That means you can’t get it anywhere else, and once copies sell out that’s it–but I’d be surprised if it doesn’t make it out into the digital world. What can I say, it’s one of the benefits of working in NYC near @MidtownComics: access to cool stuff like this–for a price of course.

And finally ‘Book of Death‘, issue four came out, and comes to a conclusion … maybe?

Here are this week’s quotes:

“And maybe you did things for me you didn’t want to do. But hey it’s a tough world, kid. Eat or be eaten as they say.”

Stan Lee, Chakra No. 4

“I am sure you are as artless as Adam before the fall … but it can’t hurt to be vigilant.”

Alex Paknadel, Arcadia No. 6

“We’ve come far together, and now we’ve run out of road. But that doesn’t mean we’re lost. Only that we have to find our way.”

Robert Venditti, Book of Death No. 4
